This is the ASA variant of the guide Character missing after a transfer: the download worked, but the survivor did not outlast your first short visit.

What you see
- You transferred, played a few minutes on the new map and logged off. At the next login the map asks you to create a survivor, or offers only a fresh level 1 one.
- Your old body may still lie asleep on that map, with its inventory out of reach.
Why it happens
A survivor is two pieces: the body in the map's world save and a profile file with your level and engrams. Lose the profile and the body stays in the world with nothing able to log into it.
The profile can be missing or unusable even while the body remains in the world. A short visit followed by a missing character does not establish exactly when a write failed. An admin must compare the map, the transfer state and the available profile backups to determine what remains.
Players on other servers describe the same thing: the new map had not saved the arriving profile before they logged off. One player tested what makes the server save a profile: world saves, taming, travel, death and buffs did not; learning an engram did (Steam, 2024).
