- Base pieces or tames are gone after a break, sometimes right after a restart, although the in-game decay countdown still showed days left.
- The Tribe Log says "auto-decay destroyed", or that someone claimed your auto-decayed tame.
- On other servers: a 2026 ASA report of a ship destroyed by auto-decay overnight.

What you see
Why it happens
On other servers, structures and tamed creatures auto-decay. The official timers are thatch 4 days; wood, adobe and tamed creatures 8; stone 12; greenhouse 15; metal 16; Tek 20; a Tek Generator, Tek Transmitter, Tek Teleporter or Cryofridge on the ground 40. Isolated foundations or pillars may decay sooner. On PvE there is also a demolish timer that lets other tribes destroy your structures when no member of your tribe has logged in for a set time. Admins can change or switch off all of this.
On this cluster, decay is off. On 18/09/2026 every structure and creature decay setting was switched off on every ASE and ASA map, until our own system replaces it: structures never decay or become demolishable by others, and tames never decay. Our own system already exists, but it runs in report mode only and removes nothing. So a piece or a tame lost after 18/09/2026 was not taken by decay.
Before that date, ASE behaved differently from what players saw. Measured on 16/09/2026, structures were auto-destroyed after the base period ×1 (thatch about 4 days, wood 8, stone 12, metal 16, Tek 20), counted since a tribe member was last near the piece, and removed in one batch at the next restart while the in-game countdown showed three times as long. Our ASE Tribe Logs hold 248,418 "auto-decay destroyed" lines and about 9,400 claims of auto-decayed tames, all from before the change.
