Each message has its own cause (ARK Wiki, Cryopod):
| Message | Cause |
| Not Enough Space to deploy | Not enough room; a closed Tek Cave or a boss arena counts as no room |
| Must be deployed underwater | An aquatic creature: you and the release point must be in water |
| Too many dinos | The tribe or the server is at its tame limit |
| >> Failed to spawn << | Missing game files (often a mod), a creature above the allowed level, or a pod from before an update |
| Dino Class Not Allowed | That creature is not allowed on this map, for example a flyer on Aberration |
"Cryopods cannot be used inside any boss arena, or inside or near the Tek Cave" (ARK Wiki).
ASA added its own rules in patch 33.11: a pod is released only within range of an activated, powered Cryofridge (a new fridge activates after 90 seconds since 45.14), and a creature that just took damage cannot be podded for a while — 30 seconds since 59.5. Official PvE servers dropped the Cryofridge requirement in 55.23 and the enemy check in 33.15; unofficial servers choose with their own settings. An open ASA report says "Can't Fit" can appear when the pod is thrown straight ahead while a throw upward works (ASAIR-62, In Review).
On our servers a shop creature arrives as a one-time Cryopod: throw it where you want the creature, into water for aquatic creatures (Delivery: when your item does not arrive).
