A survivor left standing in the world keeps using food and water. Regaining health also drains food, and at zero food the survivor loses about 1 hp every 5 seconds.
Our verified case (ASA, 21/09/2026) shows how quietly this happens. An AFK survivor's water ran out around midnight; dehydration took health; the server's health regeneration burned food fighting it; food hit zero by 00:30, and he died at 01:03 on a PvE map with nobody else online. The body and its items were destroyed before the next save, so no corpse marker could point at them, and the new survivor's inventory held a Starting Note: the sign of an empty respawn, not of intact gear.
A logged-out survivor does not leave the world: the body stays asleep at the exact spot. Creatures near it are frozen until a player comes near; when someone loads the area, a wild creature can attack the sleeping body. Players have also reported wild creatures spawning inside closed bases.
A Tek Sleeping Pod must be powered by a Tek Generator to sleep in, and it protects the sleeper as long as the structure stands (on a platform or saddle, only while powered). The 2026 ASA bed and pod deaths are open user reports on Studio Wildcard's issue tracker; there is no official explanation yet.
On our ASA maps, the AP: Death Recovery mod's Recovery Stone returns the items from your latest death. ASE runs no mods.
